Battalion Chief Wes Ward was presented the 2020 Captain Drake Award, which is the highest honor the AFA gives each year to someone in the fire service who shows outstanding and exemplary performance through training and ‘sharing their craft’ across the fire service.
This award is peer nominated and comes directly from those who have been impacted by the recipient’s dedication and service. His nomination letter calls out, “his commitment to training and service has been increasingly apparent amidst the pandemic as he provided creative ways to virtually learn, safely practice hands-on skills and help us grow personally and professionally. His willingness to share knowledge and lessons-learned with anyone is certainly unrivaled, and his reputation of excellence makes those who know him strive to know and do more.”
